To discuss “The Long Arm of Russian Intelligence,” the Council was honored to host Dr. Alexandra Sukalo, Director of the Clements-Strauss Intelligence Studies Project and Professor of National Security Affairs at the University of Texas.
With Dr. Sukalo's practical experience at the Central Intelligence Agency and National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, and expertise from academic research, the discussion was both timely and well-informed by developments around the world. The conversation explored competing spheres of influence, the importance of understanding countries’ strategic objectives, the relative strength of alliances, the transactional and strategic dimensions of bilateral relations, economic pressures, and the influence and impact of an increasingly chaotic global landscape. The discussion also highlighted key signals to watch for in anticipating future developments.
